An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.6 hit western Japan on Friday afternoon bringing with it the threat of a tsunami of futile SNS posts about the event.
“I barely felt a thing but I still had to tell everyone in my social network that I felt something before anyone else posted about it,” said Sara Cripps.
Cripps was slightly unsettled by the episode as one of her best friends in Osaka had posted about the earthquake a full two minutes before her.
Others commented on the increase in frequency of tremors in Japan.
“That was huge! I feel like this is happening more often since I moved from Australia to Japan,” posted Jerry Peterson.
There has been no report of any injuries or damage.
