Apple will return billions of dollars in taxes avoided from around the globe after receiving a letter from a low wage worker paying a significantly higher percentage of tax than Apple.

Apple Senior Vice President Eddy Cue responded by Tweeting, “Apple will pay our taxes. We hear you blue collar worker and fellow taxpayers.”

VP Eddy Cue said it was a little bit of a moral grey area for Apple to set up foreign subsidiaries for the sole purpose of redirecting profits offshore to pay zero tax, but this guy “solidified the issue for us”.

The average bloke was grateful but unsurprised that Apple doesn’t just respond to big name celebrities to preserve their image.

“I’m elated and relieved. It’s great to be reassured how Apple is a company for the people, always looking after those who voice their concerns. They listened to us,” replied the low wage earner on Twitter.
