A new gaijin celebrity has risen to stardom on Japanese TV saying mundane things in Japanese really loudly.
“I have no idea what he’s on about, but it’s really funny when he talks in Japanese above a regular speaking volume,” says one TV viewer.
Warwick Fisher shouts out random comments such as ‘sugoi’, ‘iine’, and a very extensive ‘eeeh’, when he cannot think of something interesting to say – which accounts for about 95 per cent of his airtime.
“I didn’t realize I was so unbelievably hilarious,” says Fisher.
“Occasionally I’ll bust out an English word with a strange body gesture and that always has everyone in stitches.”
Warwick Fisher is expected to disappear from Japanese TV screens in a couple of months.
