A bowl of white rice is being mourned in Tokyo today after being drenched in Kikkoman soy sauce.
Each white rice granulate was washed and dressed in ritual clothing before being placed into miniature coffins and slid into the cremation chamber.
Mourners picked the remaining residues of rice grain out of the ashes and transferred them to tiny little urns using chopsticks and metal picks.
“I saw some guy with natural brown hair reaching for a soy sauce bottle and then my worst fears became a reality,” said one witness.
“I now have recurring nightmares of white rice granulates swimming in a bowl of soy sauce screaming for my help.”
