A major poll released Thursday suggests Japanese and Chinese hate each other less than last year.

Japanese and Chinese perceptionsJapanese respondents’ perceptions of China improved from ‘detest’ to ‘loathe’, despite the best efforts of the ruling LDP party.

Chinese respondents shifted from a more favourable base position of ‘repugnance’ to an even better perception of ‘severe dislike’.

Experts are crediting the favourable shift to an increase in travel between the two nations and a rise in personal inter-cultural exchanges.

Both governments are expected to implement measures to counter this worrying trend of a rise in the humanization of each other’s populace.
