The largest bad boy group in Japan, the Yakuza Yamaguchi Gumi, has shocked the world by announcing it will be disbanding.

The syndicate has decided to split into smaller sub-groups in Kobe City where there is more scope for lucrative criminal acts – some members have indicated they may pursue more profitable solo careers in the industry.

“I’m keen to get out there and utilise my skills as a solo criminal artist,” one of the top members of the group said.

A spokesman for the 23,000-member group says the original gang is far from finished and plans to get back together for future drug trafficking tours.

However, there remains concern that the sudden split of the group may cause distress for some members of the community with the previous breakup resulting in 300 shootings.
