Americans are in a state of shock after a gunman started firing from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas on an outdoor concert festival on Sunday night, leaving at least 59 people dead, injuring 527 others, and sending thousands of terrified survivors fleeing for cover, in one of the deadliest mass shootings in American history.
“I just don’t know what we’re going to do – we’ve tried changing absolutely nothing and we are at a complete loss,” said 41-year-old Nevada resident Bobby Joe Mills.
Police found at least 10 weapons inside the gunman’s hotel room, including AR-15-style assault rifles that had been converted into fully automatic weapons.
“We have no choice but to pay a heavy price for freedom, the only country in the world that pays this much,” said 54-year-old Peggy White from Houston, Texas.
“I’m just praying that some genius can think of a solution.”
