China has dumped a large rock in the Tokyo Imperial Palace moat in Chiyoda Ward and is now claiming land rights.
“We can now claim historical land rights to within 12 miles of this small rock island,” said Chinese officials.
Japanese authorities believe the rock must have been dumped into the moat in the early hours of Tuesday morning by “some sort of large pickup truck”.
“It probably weighs close to 10-tonne – at this stage we are unsure how many people it took to place the boulder into the moat,” said Japanese officials.
“It appears as if China is already claiming a large section of the Imperial Palace but we are confident this boulder won’t constitute an island under international law.”
China made an official statement today warning the Japanese Emperor to refrain from entering their territory around the southeast quadrant of the Tokyo Imperial Palace grounds.
