Uncertainty over what a foreign teacher was trying to communicate reached critical mass this morning with a schoolgirl’s ear touching her shoulder.
Second-year high school student Hiroko Endo hit peak confusion as her head became perfectly horizontal to the ground.
After realizing the teacher was going to persist with an answer, Hiroko turned to her friend Naomi for help.
Hiroko repeated Naomi’s incorrect answer word-for-word, despite the entire class hearing it the first time.
“Because it was toothbrush,” said Naomi.
“Because it was toothbrush,” said Hiroko.
Later in the lesson when Naomi was asked a question, Hiroko provided the answer.
