An English conversation teacher working in Tokyo this morning is currently running on very low levels of genki, despite the original job description clearly stating it required a high level of genki.
“I’ve got no more genki to give,” says 38-year-old Rob Southwark.
Southwark expended all of his genki during the first three years of English conversation teaching.
“Now I’m just completely genkied out.”
The genki has been gradually sucked out of Southwark since the summer of ’08.
“I started working at Craig’s English back in 2008,” says Southwark.
“I don’t think one student I’ve taught has ever gone on to have a proper conversation in English.”
