A foreigner residing in Gifu Prefecture has katakanized an English word without any idea whether it was even possible or not.
Two-years-a-gaijin Clint Peterson couldn’t think of the word “disgusting” in Japanese in order to describe some natto he was being offered, so instead went with something completely original.
“それはディスガスティングですね,” Peterson told a group of local friends.
Peterson said he had a “complete stab in the dark” because he didn’t want the conversation drifting into large sessions of broken English.
“I suspected it wasn’t a real word, but I went with it anyway,” he said.
