Japanese television networks have broadcast some fairly standard Japanese goals in covering the news of France defeating Croatia in the Fifa World Cup final.
Croatia lost to France 4-2 but you wouldn’t know it by NHK reports.
NHK showed a total of four Japanese goals in their summary of the match.
The national broadcaster also televised Keisuke Honda senshu delivering a run of the mill pass backwards to goalkeeper Eiji Kawashima who in turn kicked the ball up to the halfway line.
“You would have thought Japan had won the World Cup,” said one TV viewer.
The word “senshu” was used over 50 times in most reports.
