A foreigner has been spotted panic buying natto after most shelves in supermarkets were totally depleted with Typhoon Hagibis fast approaching.

“As soon as I saw that gaijin grab a pack of natto, I knew we were going to be in for a big one,” says 44-year-old housewife Yumi Hirosaka.

“I’m scared.”

There have also been reports of locals being forced into purchasing exotic pastas with Japanese noodles being sold out across the nation.

The Japan Meteorology Agency is warning all locals to “stay safe”, and “がいこくじんのみなさんもきをつけてください”.
