A foreigner sitting down this afternoon has said ‘yoisha’ while transitioning to a standing position.
“Yoisha,” said 11-years-a-gaijin Steve Whitebank.
Whitebank is quietly satisfied with his ability to verbalize strenuous activities into Japanese, despite coming across as an ‘ojisan’ to the ladies.
“I also forgot the English for a word the other day, even though I could say it in Japanese,” he says.
“I was speaking to myself in Japanese and I said ‘jidouhanbaiki’ and then I couldn’t think of it in English – I was quite impressed with myself.”
