A gaijin residing in the Kansai region has survived three straight months on almost nothing but konbini bentos and beef bowls.
“On Sunday, I ate a beef bowl, last night I had a kinbini bento, and tonight I’ll probably have another beef bowl,” says 28-year-old Neil Preston.
Preston will occasionally sprinkle some spice or even some pink ginger on his beef bowl from the packs that you can take for free, just to mix things up a little.
“Sometimes, I’ll even order a cheese topping.”
Preston often comments about how lucky he is that Japanese food is “so healthy”.
“Tomorrow night I’ll probably have a konbini bento.”
On special occasions, Preston will treat himself to some 100-yen kaiten sushi.
