The Japanese half of Naomi Osaka succumbed to her other half in the first round of Wimbledon losing to 39th-ranked Yulia Putintseva, 7-6 (4), 6-2.
Osaka’s Japanese half only managed to win eight games out of a total of twenty, plus a tiebreaker.
After the match, Osaka was overcome with emotion cutting short her post-match press conference.
“Her Japanese half would never crack the sads like that during an interview,” wrote sports journalist Hiroshi Sakidoga from Supootsu Tsuudei magazine.
“Her internal abunai had taken control.”
