Japan has decided to ban Halloween in Shibuya, officials said Monday.
“People were just having way too much fun,” says Japanese official Nobuhiro Nakazaki.
The prohibition will be introduced this year following a spate of heinous crimes during last year’s Halloween festivities in Shibuya – the worst of these crimes being a man falling asleep on a sidewalk and a whole lot of rubbish being thrown on the street.
“If 300,000 people can’t carry their garbage for 5 hours straight then none of them should be allowed to have Halloween.”
Japan says from now on it wants the expression of foreign cultures confined to English classes.
