Japan has celebrated ‘Umi no hi’ by offering the ocean an extra 770,000 liters of water, which is being stored in about 580 tanks around the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant.

Tsumaranai mono desu ga,” said Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) spokesman Ryoya Matsumoto at a press conference in Tokyo, “but we offer this small gift as a token of our appreciation.”

“With any luck, it will make the long journey across the Pacific to American shores.”

TEPCO says the ocean has done enough for Japan over the centuries and they don’t expect anything in return other than an infinite supply of fresh healthy seafood.
