Japan’s Prime Minister Abe Shinzo has announced a plan to dispatch toilet paper rolls wrapped in plastic to households across the nation to deal with a continued shortage.
Abe said the number of families “wiping their buttocks with things other than toilet paper” is “frightening”.
“It’s almost as frightening as continuing business as usual during the height of a pandemic,” Abe told reporters.
The government will send two toilet paper rolls decorated with the Japanese flag to each household despite the World Health Organisation declaring “they are not a necessary item for the general public”.
With governments around the world now contradicting WHO officials about bathroom tissue, no one knows who to believe anymore.
