The Japanese government said Monday it will send out Tokyo Olympic tickets in wraps of plastic to make them more aesthetically pleasing.
Japan’s move comes as more companies worldwide are reducing plastic waste to prevent marine pollution.
“By wrapping the tickets in plastic we’re giving them a real Japanese-style feel,” Olympic minister Motta Inaiga told reporters.
In a similar move, convenience store chain operator FamilyMart Co. is wrapping its foreign staff in plastic to appease local residents.
“You can never be too careful,” said Inaiga.
