A team of Japanese scientists has successfully packaged individual atoms – in what is believed to be a global first.

“Instead of individually wrapping pieces of candy or chocolate we will now be able to wrap atoms within a wrapped piece of candy.”

The discovery is seen by many as a major breakthrough for the plastic-loving nation.

“We now have the potential to sell products that are more than 50 per cent plastic,” says lead Tokyo University researcher Takagi Ryuto.

The Tokyo University Physics Department has lauded the discovery as a giant leap for Japan’s mankind.

“Our next step will be to individually package the electrons inside the atom structure.”
