A university in south-west Japan is running an exchange student trade deficit for this fiscal year.
Yumi Tanaka is being exchanged for Timothy Rutkins.
“I mean, just take a look at this bloke – we’ve been jibbed,” said one of Rutkin’s Japanese peers.
“I think we should receive some sort of compensation for Timothy.”
Students have called on the university Vice Chancellor to claim carry-over credits for this year’s deficit.
“I hope to see some kind of student exchange surplus next year,” says faculty of arts student Shigeru Yamazaki.
