The only female cabinet minister, Satsuki Katayama, has been sent out of the national diet building this morning to get some milk after the government was running critically low in the tea and coffee room.
“If she’s not producing milk, she should be fetching it,” Minister of Finance Taro Aso reportedly said.
“And while you’re at it, we’re almost out of green tea as well.”
Prime Minister Shinzo Abe says the new female minister of regional revitalization and gender equality has the ‘presence of two or three women’.
“I’ve never seen a woman carry that many bottles of milk,” Abe told reporters in Europe.
“That’s what I call ‘womenomics’, getting the maximum amount of productivity out of the least amount of women.”
