Tokyo’s new fish market opened in the Toyosu waterfront district on Thursday, inspiring the opening of a new meat market just around the corner.
“We’re hoping to lure in a big catch this winter,” says Rods, Tackle & Hooker owner Niku Onnaga.
“We have a number of exotic specimens on offer.”
The new market will be open to the public after midnight with around 15 foreign ladies and one local woman for sale.
The best pick of the opening day fetched 43,000 yen (US$383) for a piece of meat from Manila weighing in at 51 kg.
