A string of tremendously basic English words muddled together today could have been communicated in normal Japanese.

A large portion of the originally intended meaning was lost with the oversimplification of the message into English.

“He probably could have communicated what he said in English through body language,” said ALT Eric Duncan.

“I’m pretty sure I could have said in Japanese every single word he just said during the silent pause between ‘How do’ and ‘you say’.”

Duncan walked away slightly less informed than he was prior to the interaction.
